La Casa Ristorante, Russell Lea

A couple of people have asked recently why I blog - is it because I love cooking? Do I love eating out? My answer has been that I just love eating. Eating something fabulous is one of the simple pleasures in life, and I love sharing those finds (both of the recipe and restaurant variety) with others - like you! Of course, one of the down-sides of food blogging in Sydney is that with so many possible restaurants to try, I find it hard to make return visits to places I like. Such was the case with La Casa, as it has taken me over a year to return to a place I was impressed with on my first visit.

Dishes:
Half rack of pork ribs with fries $29
Linguine con gamberi e granchio (Linguine with prawns, crab, tomato, garlic, oil and chilli) $23
Garlic Pizza $9

Even before we entered the restaurant I had made a conscious decision to over-order. If coming here was only going to happen every 15 months, I may as well make the most of it! The first plate that came our way was our garlic pizza. I was super excited to find a thin yet fluffy base sprinkled with garlicky goodness. This pizza base was way better than I remembered from our previous visit, and I now want to go back and try some of their other pizzas.

The ribs (pictured above), were slathered in La Casa's special sauce and were super tasty. If I was being persnickety I'd mention that the meat didn't seem quite as juicy was what I was expecting, but that's partly due to my high expectations where La Casa is concerned. The ribs were paired with what could quite possibly be the best fries I've had the joy of eating. Ridiculously crunchy, I was so taken with them that I almost couldn't choose which I'd finish if my stomach started protesting about the amount of food I had consumed.

Boy's pick of prawn and crab linguine was a more sensible choice, size-wise, and I almost didn't get a chance to nab any of his food before it was eaten. The prawns were fabulous, pasta great, and boy, who usually dislikes pasta with seafood and tomato (don't ask me why he ordered it!) deemed it a winner.

Far too full to contemplate dessert, we vacated our table for the waiting hoard.
