Le Pain Quotidien, Westfield Sydney

I keep falling behind in my posting. This week the excuse is that I've had meningitis. To be completely honest, that's not exactly what my doctor said, but at 3am after getting a migraine and then a fever Dr. Google's diagnosis of meningitis was far more exciting than a "virus that could be the flu". It's so boring to be stuck in bed without something interesting to keep me occupied, so I've decided to stick with Dr. Google and stay on the lookout for a rash, confusion, or seizures so that I can rush myself off to emergency.

Before getting meningitis, I had a wonderful day catching up with two friends that are 'comfy' friends. I've begun to realise how rare such friends are as I get older, so a day of catchups and naughtiness was fabulous. One of these catchups was at Le Pain Quotidien.

Dishes:
Chicken breast tartine
Quiche lorraine
Belgian waffles

To be honest, I wasn't particularly bowled over by our mains at this Belgian eatery. The quiche lorraine and the chicken tartine (not a tart as I first thought, but instead an open sandwich) in my opinion, weren't anything special, with the fridge-cold avocado on the tartine clashing somewhat with the toasted nature of the grilled cheese.

However, the Belgian waffles that we managed to make time for were divine. I'd happily go back again and again for the waffles that were scattered with cinnamon and strawberries, and had been drizzled with honey, with melted belgian chocolate and ice-cream on the side. Hello! Gorgeous is the only appropriate word. Sadly, the chocolate cried out for eating rather than photographing and mesmerised me to the point that I didn't take a photo for your enjoyment. You'll just have to pop in to one of Le Pain Quotidien's outlets to check it out for yourself.

Sorry to hear you haven't been well but good to know you were able to get out to catch up with friends. Lunch with friends works so much better than a teaspoon of medicine xx
